By taking the proper precautions, we can all work together to prevent the spread of this illness. For tips on sanitary behavior and to see how The Store and our Associates are addressing this situation, please read our recent Notice to Our Guests

Along with staying safe, we have to find joy — and there really is joy to be had! So together, let’s take some time to focus on the great things in our lives. Here’s a helpful list of ideas to get you through all that social distancingsneezing or coughing into a tissue, and hand-washing…while maybe having a little fun!

1. Have a Movie Night

Pop some popcorn and dim the lights, because it’s time for a movie! Bring the theater to your living room by settling in for a cozy movie night with blankets and your softest pair of socks. Whether you opt for your all-time favorite film from your DVD collection (maybe rewatch them all!), or streaming the newest Netflix original, you’re sure to have a great time with your family.

2. Connect with a Friend

While everyone is laying low, now is the perfect time to reach out to a friend, whether they live near or far. Even if you can’t see each other face-to-face, a phone call or FaceTime can make it feel like they’re right there with you. Take this opportunity to catch up and share a few laughsYou could even plan to watch a TV show at the same time, and share commentary over text or FaceTime. We bet you’ll be feeling happier afterward!

3. Catch Up on Some Reading!

Life is busy and it sure can be hard to find the time to sit down and read, no matter how much you love it. With some extra time spent in the comfort of your home, it is easto enjoy the company of a good book. Go ahead and start that novel your cousin recommended and get readin’! Nothing helps to escape stress of daily life like a great story. Plus, you can give your cousin a ring and discuss the book when you’re done (see item #2).

4. Tackle that Project you’ve been Putting Off

Okay, let’s be honest…we all have that project that we just “haven’t gotten around to”. Well, what better time to bite the bullet and tackle the task? Whether it’s organizing drawers and cupboards, deep cleaning the fridge, sanitizing the entire bathroom, or touching up the trim on your house, roll up your sleeves and get ‘er done.

5. Pets!

You know who will be super excited that you’re spending more time at home? Your pets, of course! Take this opportunity to maximize your time spent cuddling, petting and playing with your furry friends. Unless you have a goldfish…you probably shouldn’t pet Mr. Bubbles. You can get some exercise by going for longer than usual walks, tooMight as well throw in an extra treat…who’s counting?

6. Try a New Recipe

Remember all those fun recipe videos you’ve seen on Facebook and Pinterest but never got around to trying? Now’s the time! Whip out your whisk and oven mitt and voilà…your cooking space is now a professional kitchen or bakery. Put your culinary skills to the test, learn a few things along the way, and make a delicious meal or tasty treat for you and your family. Oh yeah, and don’t forget to post about it on Instagram!

7. Fun & Games

Entertain the whole family by breaking out your favorite board game. Chutes & Ladders, Candy Land, Monopoly, Trouble…there’s no wrong answer! If trying new games is more your thing, there are many free print & play game options online.

8. Find the Family Photo Album

It’s always a good time when someone brings out the family photo album. Spend an hour or two reminiscing with your family (and pointing out the awful outfits and hairdos of the past). Just make sure you play fair and make a truce…no posting the photos on social media! After all, it’s the only way to protect everyone’s reputation.
