It’s estimated that in the U.S., we throw away about 120 billion disposable cups each year. From styrofoam to plastic to paper, there are many types of disposable cups—not to mention lids and straws—that end up in landfills throughout the world every single day. Now more than ever, many businesses and consumers strive to make […]
Have you heard one of the inspiring stories about someone going through a drive thru and when they pull up to the window the employee tells them, “The car in front of you paid for your order”? Oftentimes, the person who received the free meal or beverage decides to continue to pay it forward and pay for the order of the car behind them.
Those random acts of kindness are at the heart of our annual Take Time, Be Kind Campaign at The Store. The communities in which we are located are our homes and neighborhoods. It’s where we see our friends and neighbors every day. Our goal for the Take Time, Be Kind campaign is simple: to encourage you to spread kindness towards everyone you see.
In honor of our Buy A Bone campaign to support local animal shelters and humane societies, we want to celebrate pets in our communities…and one of our favorite ways to do it is with a Pet Photo Contest!

There’s nothing like stepping outside to a warm spring day after months of snow and ice. With another midwestern winter behind us, sunshine and above-freezing temperatures are more than welcome! Read on for 6 great ways to “spring into the season” and make the most of March.
P.S. – #6 is our favorite!
1. Go for a Walk 🚶♀️
It might seem simple, but there’s a reason it’s #1 on our list. Going for a walk is easy, relaxing and enjoyable. Get a little exercise and soak up the sun by taking a stroll around the neighborhood or on your favorite trail. Plus, you can make the walk as long or as short as you like – it can fit into everyone’s schedule, and even 10 minutes will brighten your mood!
P.S. – If you’re a dog owner, don’t forget to bring your canine companion. They’re sure to have a fetching time. Just watch out for those mud puddles!
2. Fly a Kite 🪁
If it’s a windy day, why not dust off that kite in the garage and head to the park? Flying kites is a fun activity for the whole family, and you know the kids will love it. Wisconsin has a TON of public parks, and they’re one of the few places you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of the community while offering plenty of room to stay socially distant. That’s a win-win if you ask us!
3. Read Outside 📖
Reading is a great way to unwind year-round, but it is even better when you can do it in the sun! Grab a book, magazine or pull up a blog page (like this one). Then, find a comfortable place on a bench, your deck, or a patch of grass, and you’re ready to go. Enjoy the calm sounds of nature and get some much-needed vitamin D. Don’t stay out too long, though – it doesn’t have to be summertime for you to get sunburnt!
4. Ride a Bike 🚲
Woohoo! The roads, paths and trails are finally free of snow. Well, mostly, anyway! Now’s the time to break out that 10-speed and go for a cruise. Enjoy the warm breeze, sunlight and exercise…it will be a breath of fresh air after a long winter cooped up inside. Literally! Find paved bike paths near you with this handy search feature on TravelWisconsin.com.
5. Plant a Garden 🥕
It’s time to let that green thumb of yours shine! Spring is the perfect time to begin planning and prepping a garden. Growing your own food is fun, rewarding, and a nutritious addition to your diet. Read this article for 6 veggies to plant in early spring. Or, if flowers are more your thing, check out this webpage for 25 spring-blooming flowers to spruce up your landscaping.
6. Enjoy Highlander Grog Cappuccino at The Store! ☕
Last but certainly not least, sip on delicious Highlander Grog Cappuccino! This seasonal flavor is available at all 26 The Store locations right now, and you won’t want to miss it. The medium-bodied roast features notes of hazelnut, butterscotch and rum, giving it a smooth and rich flavor that pairs perfectly with brisk March mornings. Plus, Highlander Grog Cappuccino goes well with the activities listed above. This popular flavor is sure to put an extra spring in your step!
New year, new you. You probably hear this saying (or see it in your Instagram feed) a lot every time January 1st rolls around.
For many, the start of a new year brings new goals and resolutions. According to Performance Health, about half of New Year’s Resolutions include losing weight, exercising more, or eating better. Clearly, people care about their health!
But let’s face it: healthy choices are rarely easy, convenient, or the most delicious option. In today’s fast paced world, it can be difficult to find time to hit the gym. And, while we say we’re going to make a fresh, homecooked meal…well, a drive-thru just sound a whole lot easier.
But here’s the thing: creating healthy habits doesn’t have to be a dramatic lifestyle upheaval full of 4:00 AM cardio sessions and kale smoothies. Small changes can make a big difference. Consider snacking on fruit or a granola bar in place of potato chips. Or, go for a walk instead of binging another episode on Netflix. It all adds up!
But wait, it gets better. What if we told you healthy options can be tasty and convenient? You’ll find plenty of good-for-you, guilt-free snacks and beverages in our 26 locations throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. Here’s a few items you can pick up at The Store that have been handpicked by a local nutritionist to help get you started:
- Bare Apple, Banana, or Coconut Chips – 110 calories per serving
- Country Fresh Meats Smoked Chicken – 105 calories per serving
- Hard Boiled Eggs 2-pack – 60 calories per serving
- Cranberry Almond Kind Bar – 170 calories per serving
- Nature Valley Crunchy Bar – 190 calories per serving
- Powerade Zero 20oz – 0 calories per serving
- Skinny Pop Popcorn – 160 calories per serving
- Vitamin Water Zero – 0 calories per serving
Check out this short video for additional details!
We care about the health of our communities, and we want to support you as you work to achieve your goals. Offering healthy, convenient and tasty options for you and your family is just one way we’re making it easier to stick to those resolutions!
The Store is a proud sponsor of the Community Weight Race, an annual event promoting weight loss and healthy lifestyle changes in the Stevens Point and Shawano communities. Follow along on Facebook as we promote healthy options all winter long!
The holiday season is here once again, and so is our Paper Kettle Campaign! Now through December 25th, you can donate to your local Salvation Army organization anytime you stop in at one of The Store’s 26 convenient locations. There are two ways you can give:
- Purchase a paper kettle for $1, $5 or $10 and sign your name – all paper kettles will be proudly displayed inside The Store!
- Place change or dollar bills in the small red kettles located on the check-out counter. Every coin counts!
Our Paper Kettle Campaign began in 2013. To date, Associates and Guests of The Store have donated over $121,000 to local Salvation Army chapters! Now, in the campaign’s 8th year, the need is greater than ever. There’s no doubt the past months have been difficult for all. The year has presented many new challenges, especially for our neighbors in need. Watch our interview video with the Salvation Army – Stevens Point to learn more!
What initiatives will your donation support? The Salvation Army works to meet needs in many ways, including:
- Providing shelter
- Supplying meals and food
- Supporting veterans
- Offering financial assistance
- Supplementing education
- Connecting those out of work with job opportunities
…and much more!
100% of funds raised directly contribute to the Salvation Army’s efforts in your community. We hope you’ll support our Paper Kettle Campaign and help us relieve needs at the local level. And remember, you can donate your time, too! Sign up to be a bell ringer in your community at RegisterToRing.com.
This holiday season, we hope you’ll join us in Doing The Most Good, Together.
We LOVE animals and we LOVE the communities we call home. This month, we’re excited to support both through our Perks For Pets and Buy A Bone promotions! October 1st – 24th, you can raise much-needed funding for the animal shelter or humane society in your area when you visit The Store...and there’s two great ways to help. No bones about it!
Perks For Pets
Hey all you cool cats and kittens, need of some CATfination? When you enjoy a 24 oz. hot beverage at The Store, not only will you get to use the new (and adorable) Furry Friends cup, but you can also treat yourself to a David’s Muffin for only 59¢! Now, that’s a deal that will have you feline fine no matter how ruff the day.
The best part? A portion of each hot beverage and muffin purchase will go to the animal shelter or humane society in your area! You can help local pets find their furever home by simply enjoying coffee and a muffin. Supporting animals in need has never been easier…or more delicious!
Buy A Bone
In addition to Perks For Pets, you can also support your local shelter through our annual (and very pup-ular) Buy A Bone promotion. At the register, you’ll have the option to buy paper bones for $1, $5, and $10. Buy one (or more!) and sign your bone to show your support. Psst – You can even get creative and write the name of a pet! The purchased bones will be displayed inside The Store to celebrate the generosity and kindness of our Guests. ALL funds raised from paper bone sales go directly to the shelter in your area, and we’re not kitten! What could be more purrfect?
Benefiting Animal Shelters
The following shelters will receive the funds raised in their respective markets through the Perks For Pets and Buy A Bone promotions:
- Humane Society of Marathon County
- Marshfield Area Pet Shelter
- Humane Society of Portage County
- Oconto Area Humane Society
- Shawano County Humane Society
- South Wood County Humane Society
- Humane Society of Waupaca
- Delta Animal Shelter
- Menominee Animal Shelter
The impact of COVID-19 has limited the ways shelters receive support, including decreased volunteer work and a limited ability to host fundraising events. But, we need to stay pawsitive. Now more than ever, we hope you’ll join us in assisting the wonderful shelters in our communities. Your support will go a long way toward maintaining the well-being of sheltered animals while they await a loving home. Thank you fur your help, our Guests sure are pawsome!
P.S. — We Want to Feature Your Pet!
Have adorable photos of your pet? We’d love to see them, doggonit! 😁 Connect with The Store on social media and share your best pet photos with us. Include your pet’s name and a fun fact about them. We’re basically the puparazzi! A few lucky photos will be featured on The Store’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages during the Perks For Pets and Buy A Bone promotions.
Summer in the Midwest is full of sunshine, blue skies, and gorgeous days. Well, for the most part, anyway – we do get some crazy thunderstorms every now and again! But, most will agree that summer is a great time to be outside. Some prefer the comfort of their porch or backyard while others love to be on the water. And then there are those adventurous souls who are always looking to explore new places. For everyone – especially the latter – road trips are a great way to see the beautiful sights Wisconsin and Upper Michigan have to offer.
Pack your bags…let’s make some memories!
1. Compile your Crew
No road trip is complete without a few fellow explorers to share in the experience. Once you’ve solidified your road trip team, you’re ready to assign roles.
The title of The Driver should be bestowed upon a responsible, even keeled, focused person. Next, an attentive and engaged member of your team can claim the role of The Navigator. This person sits in the passenger seat and helps direct the course of the vehicle. Pro Tip: the Navigator should also have great taste in music, because everyone knows The Navigator is also The DJ!
The remaining members of your team will get to hang out in the back seat. One of these lucky ducks will assume the role of Snack Distributor in Chief. They’re in charge of handing out snacks evenly among team members…in between naps, that is!
2. Determine your Destination
Next, decide where you’re going! Will it be a city of interest, a state park, a beach on the Great Lakes? There are no wrong answers. Plus, there are plenty of scenic points and memorable pitstops to enjoy along the way. Visit sites like www.travelwisconsin.com and midwestliving.com for endless ideas.
3. Find your Fuel
Once you’ve got your crew assembled and your route planned, it’s time to fill up the tank — both literally and figuratively. Make a stop at The Store for 100% North American fuel products that will get you where you need to go. With 26 convenient locations throughout Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, you’ll rarely find yourself far from The Store. Pro Tip: join the Impact Rewards+ loyalty program to earn free products and save on the purchases you make every day. Click here to learn how!
4. Stock Up on Snacks
While you’re at The Store, don’t forget to pick up snacks for the road. After all, what’s a road trip without snacks? Trail mix, beef jerky, nuts, chips, candy bars, soda, tea, juice, coffee…you name it, The Store’s got it! There are plenty of healthy options, too – learn more by reading our previous blog Healthy Snacks Galore at The Store.
5. Got Games?
Ahh – you’re finally on the road. After staring out the window for a while, eating a snack or two, and listening to your favorite song 4 times, you might start to get a bit bored. Never fear – bring excitement to the car ride with these Great Road Trip Games. There are ideas for passengers of every age and interest. Plus, nothing brings people together like some friendly competition!
6. Play some Podcasts
If road trip games aren’t your style, we suggest listening to podcasts. There are TONS of podcasts out there covering almost every topic imaginable. News, education, pop culture, sports…the list goes on. There’s something for everyone! A few of our favorites are Travel Wisconsin, All About The Car (a podcast by our friends at Schierl Tire & Service) and The Daily.
No matter where you go or what you do, we know the true fun of a road trip comes from spending time with those you love. There’s no doubt you’ll have a blast in the beautiful region of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan…we’re just here to make the trip even better. Stop in at The Store for your road trip fuel and snack essentials. We bet you’ll leave with a smile!
Are you ready for hot dogs, sunshine, fireworks and fun? The 4th of July is almost here! But, did you know? When you stop at The Store to fill up your tank with North American fuel products, you can also stock up on necessities for the holiday. Talk about convenience! Let The Store be your one-stop-shop for 4th of July essentials.
First things first – What’s July 4th without tasty, grill-able food? Be sure to grab your cookout staples at The Store, like Gonella Hot Dog Buns. We’ve got all the fixings your family loves, too, including Heinz Ketchup and French’s Mustard. Don’t forget the ice for the cooler! And, if your cookout turns out to be an even bigger success than you planned for, you can count on your neighborhood The Store location to carry backup cookout supplies all holiday weekend long.
After you’ve eaten one too many brats, beat the heat with delicious ice cream. Pick up Cedar Crest Ice Cream for the family next time you stop in. The Store carries tons of flavors, so you know there’s something for everyone at your celebration. And the best part? Cedar Crest Ice Cream is much more than a just premium, small batch treat…it is family–owned and made right here in Wisconsin. There’s nothing better than fresh ice cream from the heart of America’s Dairyland!
We don’t need to tell you that the weather during the 4th of July is, almost without fail, HOT. So, before firing up the grill and scooping ice cream cones, make sure to shield yourself from the sun’s rays. Trust us, you’ll be glad you did. Luckily, The Store carries quality sunscreen and sunglasses to protect your skin and eyes from harmful UV rays. Pick up a bottle of SPF 30 or SPF 50 Banana Boat sunscreen or SPF 70 Neutrogena lotion for the fairer family members. Then, try out a pair of fashionable, functional I-gogs with polarized lenses. You won’t just be grilling in comfort…you’ll be grilling in style!
Whew…by the time the evening rolls around, all that food and sunlight can start to catch up to you. But, the festivities are not over…you need to stay awake for your family’s exclusive firework extravaganza! Before you give in and take a long nap, beat the drowsiness with 5 Hour Energy. Just one of these simple, effective energy shots is all you need for a quick pick-me-up…with only 4 calories! Plus, with a tantalizing array of fruity flavors, you really can’t go wrong.
Stocking up for July 4th has never been easier – all it takes is a quick visit to The Store. Whether you’re planning on grilling, enjoying Wisconsin-made ice cream, celebrating in the sun or enjoying fireworks (or all of the above), we’ve got what you need for a fun, safe, and memorable 4th of July.
