5 Ways to Safely Celebrate Mother’s Day
Mothers are superheroes. They take on many roles and responsibilities, each dynamic and unique. Here’s to the birth mothers, adopted mothers, foster moms, parental guardians and role models in our communities. Don’t forget pet moms, either! Caring for fur babies is no small task. We can’t even begin to sum up motherhood in words, yet somehow mothers manage to juggle everything that comes their way. There’s no doubt about it…moms are incredible!
Mother’s Day is just around the corner. There’s no better time to treat your mom to a special day and make sure she knows you appreciate all that she does for you. Keeping safety in mind, here are a few fun ideas to help you show your mom all the love and appreciation she deserves!
1. Stop by for a Window Visit
It might not be possible to see your mom in person right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still pay her a visit! Drive over to her place and stand outside the biggest window you can find. Then, call your mom and tell her you’ve come to the window to say hi. You can even surprise her with a sign saying “Happy Mother’s Day”!
During a window visit, you can have a warm conversation by phone while (almost) being face to face. She’ll appreciate seeing you and we’re pretty sure she’ll remember this sweet gesture for years to come.
2. Connect through Technology
If you live far away from your mom or cannot surprise her with a window visit, get in touch with her online! Many video chat platforms exist to easily connect people and can do a great job standing in for face-to-face visits. FaceTime, Zoom, Skype and WebEx are some popular options. This is an easy and safe way to include the whole family. All you need to do is send mom a virtual invitation and you’ll be chatting away in no time! And hey, why not make this a habit and talk with your mom virtually each week?
3. Send Her a Gift Online
What is your mother’s favorite restaurant, coffee shop, or store? Chances are good that they offer online gift cards that can be sent via email. This is a great gift option that will put a smile on your mom’s face while adhering to social distancing guidelines. Not to mention, purchasing gift cards is a great way to support local businesses during this time!
4. A Special Doorstep Delivery
If you’d rather give physical gifts, treat your mom to a surprise at her front door. After you’ve picked out the perfect gift, have it delivered or wrap it in a pretty box or bag and set it on her doorstep. Then, tell her to check the porch for a surprise! This can be done during a window visit, too.
P.S. – If your mom doesn’t have a computer with a camera for video chatting, that would make a great gift! 😉
5. Pick Up Her Favorites at The Store
With many local businesses closed, including most florists and gift shops, it can be hard to find presents for Mother’s Day. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! Stop by The Store for all of Mom’s favorite treats: chocolate, wine, coffee drinks, candy, tea and more. You can also buy a gift card at The Store…the perfect present for every mom!
However you choose to make this day count, we wish you a safe, happy and healthy Mother’s Day. Remember to make you mom feel extra special, because she is!
