4 Reasons our New Coffee Cups are Better for the Environment…and for You!

New Eco-Friendly Coffee Cups at The Store

Happy Earth Day! At The Store, we understand the importance of making sustainable choices to lessen our impact on the environment. Speaking of which, you might have noticed the new coffee cups at all 26 of our The Store locations. Not only do they have a fresh look, but our new cups are eco-friendlyso you can enjoy your morning coffee or cappuccino while being kind to Mother Earth.

So, what makes our new cups so great? Read on!

1. Our New Cups are Made using 25% Post-Consumer Fiber

Um…what? Basically, that’s a fancy way of saying our new cups are good for the environment. Post-consumer fiber refers to any material that has been used, recycled, and used again. For instance, about a fourth of the paper material in our cups did not come directly from trees – instead, other sources (like that instruction manual you tossed in the recycling bin) have been re-purposed to help create the cups. Not only does this lessen our impact on trees, but it also helps keep clean, reusable paper material out of landfills.

2. Our New Cups Source Paper from Organizations Practicing Sustainable Forestry

According to the University of Southern Indiana, the average American uses seven trees annually in the form of paper products. In total, about 2,000,000,000 trees are used each year to make things like toilet paper or paper towels. With many areas facing deforestation, the Sustainable Forestry Initiative was created to promote responsible forestry practices. By following these guidelines, it is possible to protect our forest resources instead of deplete them. To minimize the impact of your daily cup of joe, our new eco-friendly cups only use material that comes from sustainably-forested trees!

3. Our New Cups are Compostable

Composting is the practice of allowing organic materials to break down into simpler compounds. In a nutshell, composting helps keep natural material like food waste out of landfills and allows it to break down into a fertile mixture that will — eventually — resemble dirt. Compost material is great to mix in with potting soil or spread over your garden. Plus, you can add our new cups to your compost bin instead of tossing them in the trash! 4. Our New Cups Feature a Double-Wall Design

Our eco-friendly cups use double wall technology. Not only does this shield your hand from excess heat, but it also keeps your drink warmer for a longer period of time. Gone are the days of doubling up on cups or drink sleeves to protect your hand from hot temperatures! Plus, you don’t need to worry about your drink growing cold halfway through your morning commute.

Mother Earth would agree: the new eco-friendly cups at The Store are better for the environment and better for you. Add some of our delicious gourmet coffee, cappuccino or fresh bean-to-cup coffee to that cup, and we’d call that a win-win!
