Egg-Cellent Easter Candy

When you’re a kid (and let’s be honest, even now as an adult), Easter is about one thing, and one thing only: candy! But you continue to fight your family members in the living room in order to find your Easter basket first.

Did you do the scavenger hunt? Was everyone’s basket laid out nicely? Whatever your family tradition, there’s nothing better than seeing a basket brimming with sweet treats – it’s sugar for breakfast, cookies for lunch and chocolate for dinner!

What was your plan of action after locating your basket? Did you eat the worst offenders first, getting them out of sight so you could focus on the good stuff? Did you find the coolest piece of candy and start with that before your siblings could steal it?

It’s probably been a while since you’ve received an Easter basket, but think about it: how would you tackle that candy haul as an adult? As you age, your tastes have probably changed a bit, but chances are if you avoided black jellybeans when you were 6 years old, you’re probably still not a fan of them today. So, if you were faced with a basket full of Easter candy, what would you like to see? Here are some of the classic candies you might remember from back in the day:

  1. Russel Stover Coconut Nest covered in milk chocolate
  2. Zachary Chocolate-covered marshmallow eggs
  3. Cadbury Crème Eggs
  4. Brach’s Marshmallow Easter Hut Eggs
  5. Foil-wrapped chocolate eggs (that foil got EVERYWHERE)
  6. Russell Stover solid milk chocolate bunnies
  7. Brach’s Classic Jelly Bird Eggs
  8. Cadbury Caramel Eggs
  9. Mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs
  10. Cadbury Mini Eggs
  11. Whoppers Robin Eggs
  12. Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs
  13. Hollow milk chocolate bunnies
  14. Starburst Jellybeans
  15. Big Chewy Nerds Jellybeans
  16. Pez Easter Candy and Dispensers
  17. Peeps
  18. Jordan Almonds
  19. Easter Pastel Milk Chocolate M&M’s
  20. Dubble Bubble Bubble Gum Eggs

Although the Easter candy aisles seem to get larger with each passing year, there have always been a few standbys like the ones we listed above. Most parents will load their child’s Easter basket with candy and sweets — Halloween after all is still six months away!

One of our favorite things we got in our Easter basket was a solid milk chocolate Easter bunny, which as everyone agree is vastly superior to the hollow milk chocolate Easter bunny. What was your favorite Easter candy? Has it changed much over the years?
